If you want to live sustainable, you should avoid furniture that is contaminated with plastics and pollutants. An ecological living concept relies exclusively on furniture and accessories made of renewable raw materials (e.g. certified wood, bamboo, organic cotton).

In addition, the furniture should have the following characteristics:

come from sustainable forestry in Germany or Europe
not have long delivery routes
be durable and of high quality
have no glued surfaces as far as possible
be glaze, oil and wax on a natural basis
be free of harmful substances
do not pose a risk when disposed of

More ecological than any new purchase, however, is the purchase of well-preserved, used furniture or the restoration of old furniture. When buying a new piece of furniture – go for good quality. Durability is always the most sustainable furnishing style.
